PAX Prime 2012 – Parenting and Video Games: The Psychiatric Perspective

Kids playing video games?  We’re at a point of saturation – a 2010 (that’s 2 years ago, for those counting) Pew Internet & American Life poll showed that 99% of boys and 94% of girls play video games.  Psychiatrically speaking, is this a bad thing?  Can gaming be addicting?  Are games safe for kids?  How much is too much?  How can we keep kids safe?  Join Dr. Tyler Black, a frequent PAX presenter and a child psychiatrist from BC Children’s Hospital, to explore these issues.  The panel will be a 30 minute presentation followed by interactive discussion.
